The non-fructose carbs: glucose, milk sugar, malt, starches, sugar-alcohols.

These are all glucose carbs, or readily converted to glucose.

Medium and high amounts of glucose carbs spike your blood sugar and insulin. This irritates your whole system, which makes your body stress more to burn it off. Then the insulin signals adipose tissue to store the excess as body fat.

This does not cause the liver aspects of metabolic syndrome, but still leads to insulin resistance, glucose intolerance, and type II diabetes.
